Shivara ("we", "us") is a web design agency based at 48 Affleck Road, Colchester, CO4 3XR, United Kingdom. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018). We are the data controller for this information.

What we collect

  • Contact form: your name, email address, phone number, subject and message.
  • Direct contact: anything you send us by email, phone or WhatsApp.
  • Client projects: the contact and billing details needed to deliver and invoice your project.
  • Technical data: our hosting provider may log basic information such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, to keep the site secure and running.

How we use it and our lawful basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote (legitimate interests, or steps before a contract).
  • To deliver, support and invoice your project (performance of a contract).
  • To keep business and tax records (legal obligation).

We do not sell your information, and we do not send marketing emails without your consent.

Who we share it with

We use trusted providers to run our business, including Google (contact form submissions are stored using Google services), our website host GoDaddy, and our email provider. They process data on our behalf, and some may store it outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don't become projects are deleted within 12 months. Client and invoice records are kept for 6 years to meet UK accounting requirements.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, object to or restrict how we use it, or ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Email Mages@shivara.co.uk and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
